Since January 2002 Mexico Retail Advisors (MRA) represents The Home Depot's development in Mexico. Home Depot's initial goal was to open 50 units in 5 years of which the company acquired 8 units, and MRA brokered & developed 35 others, all reaching higher sales than expected.
In June 2004, The Home Depot acquired a Mexican 20 unit home improvement retail chain named Home Mart, with 10 units located within the Mexico City metro area and 10 others located in the rest of the country.
With Home Depot's penetration and sales performance, the company has decided to open more units than the initial 50 in the next 4 years.
From 1992 to 2002 our principal and managers were in charge of Costco Wholesale's development in Mexico opening 20 units in the country, first as Price Club and then as Costco Wholesale
